I feel much the same about SOUTHLAND. I think I was laughing *at* it while I was watching it, but now I have this urge to talk about it constantly. If nothing else, that line about pimps and suicide is the new, "I'm a fiend for mojitos."

David Lowery

I didn't know anyone else appreciated "I'm a fiend for mojitos!"

And Tender is the best Blur song ever. That's one point in favor of seeing Southland Tales (not that I won't see it -- I'm just not really looking forward to it).

"I'm a fiend for mojitos" might very well be my favorite worst line of the decade, though the weird guy screaming, "I'm a mack daddy pimp!" in RUNNING SCARED is also up there. In all honestly, I don't think a week goes by when i don't reference Bozo Farrell's delivery of that glorious line.

Glenn Kenny

"Dodsworth" is a one-film refutation of Andrew Sarris' underrating of Wyler. But that "pimp" line in "Southland Tales" is very sad. To pick up a thread from Kevin Smith's "Clerks II," just who is Richard Kelly, um, reclaiming the term "pimp" for?
