| There was an overwhelming amount of hesitancy and doubt, far more than usual, in the responses to last week's quiz. A good many of the submissions were prefaced with lines like "It's been years since I've seen it" or "I've only seen in once", but most of you were able to identify the black and white tango bar from Wong Kar-wai's Happy Together. One of Wong's best films, this gay-themed love story set in Buenos Aires is in desperate need of a new DVD release -- the current one doesn't do justice to the direction, or to Christopher Doyle's remarkable cinematography. As for the connection to Adaptation -- quite a few of you got tripped up on this one. Happy Together, the 60s pop classic by The Turtles, is used (ironically) in Adaptation. So - where to go from here? There was the option to choose yet another film that contains Happy Together, but that wouldn't be any fun. So, for this week, an easy one -- or is it? Submit your answers to this address. Good luck! |

I guess you didn't like my connetion between the voice-over critique and reliance in ADAPTATION and in the Wong film!
