| First off, many apologies for the lack of posts in recent days. Though well-rested from vacation, the days since returning home have been spent catching up on this and that, while at the same time still trying to work out a manageable schedule for the Tribeca Film Festival. (Nearly there!) Though the response to last week's quiz wasn't as great as week one, the number of correct guesses was impressive, especially considering that the screen shot used appears in the film for only a fraction of a second. Adaptation is Spike Jonze's love letter to screenwriters, and it's a film that's very dear to my heart. The (obvious) connection between this and Donnie Darko is that both films feature the cuter of the Gyllenhaal siblings. Some better planning on my part might have been prudent, for though there's an amusing connection between this week's film and Adaptation, the path out of here seems tricky. Name this high-contrasty film. Submit your answers to this address. Good luck! |

Dear Filmbrain,
It is the third time that i' sending to you an email with a response for the quiz and get bounced.
Is there any alternative email adress?

Salvador

Maggie Gyllenhaal?! That's not a direct link! Okay, I guess you never said it would be a direct link. Damn you, Filmbrain.
Now that I know that that screen capture is from "Adaptation" it actually looks like a Spike Jonze shot. In its artfully deceptive, uninflected ordinariness. Or have I just crossed the line from film-geek-analysis to lunacy?

But Maggie is in both films. (Or did you think I was referring to Jake when I said the cuter of the Gyllenhaal siblings?)

Oh, and not to worry, it's a fine line between film-geek-analysis and lunacy.

D'oh! That's right. Haven't seen DD in a while.
Sorry I said damn you.

Not to worry, James. I'm already damned for all time.
