| "Richard Burton in Wagner" was the most popular incorrect guess for last week's quiz, but it's understandable. However, this crazed Burton comes from a glorious mess of a film -- Christian Marquand's Candy. Burton is one of many stars to appear in this adaptation of the Terry Southern novel, alongside Walter Matthau, Marlon Brando, James Coburn, John Huston, and more. (Even Ringo Starr makes an appearance.) Burton plays the poet with the permanently windswept hair, MacPhisto (is that where Bono got it from?), who reads from his tome Forests of Flesh and tells Candy of his huge, great need. Turning Southern's satiric and sex-filled take on Candide into a film was the first mistake, followed by the decision to let an actor direct it. Still, for all its flaws, Candy does have some great moments, and really is worth checking out, if only for the example of 60s excess. Well, in theory this is the final week of Round 4. Though Filmbrain hasn't yet added up the bonus points, there is an eight-way tie for first place (10 out of 11), a many-way tie for second place (9/11) and an even greater-way tie for third (8/11), so it looks like tiebreaker rounds are inevitable. In terms of prizes -- the first and second place winners will win a copy of any DVD that was used in this round. The third place winner will win a copy of the newly released Tenth Anniversary Edition of Martin Scorsese's Casino. This week -- an easy one before the difficult tiebreaker round(s). Name the actress and the film. For a bonus point -- what is her connection to not one, but two famous folk singers? Send your answers to this address. Good luck! |

Ron Howard's kid, right? In "UNTITLED LINDSAY LOHAN SPRING PROJECT." And I believe she was briefly on an above-average bowling team with Dylan and Phil Ochs.

But which interesting Ringo Starr failure is more interesting, and which one's a bigger failure?
I'm going with Candy on both.
