![]() Ok, it's not quite what Virginia had in mind, but Filmbrain is thrilled nonetheless to have finally gained ownership of the filmbrain.com domain. It was grabbed last year by somebody who had no plans for it, and who also refused Filmbrain's offer to purchase it. Well, the expiration date came and went, and as there was no attempt at renewal, Filmbrain bought it. Say farewell to typing the cumbersome, awkward filmbrain.typepad.com. Now, whether it's screen capture quizzes you crave, Korean film reviews, or simply a peek into the twisted mind of a film junkie, just go to www.filmbrain.com. (The old address Also, several people have written asking for an RDF feed for the comments on this site. Filmbrain has finally sorted it out, and the link for the syndicated comments feed can be found on the sidebar. Other than the address, everything else will remain as it always was. Check back next week for Filmbrain's essay on why Ron Howard is the Howard Hawks of our day, and a special think-piece: "Lindsay Lohan - Better than both Hepburns"*. *[Filmbrain is of course joking -- she's really only better than Katharine.] |

"Ron Howard is the Howard Hawks of our day"
Hmmm, I for one can't wait to find out whether or not this means that you grossly overvalue the work of Howard of grossly under value the work of Hawks.
Either way, looking forward to it!

Oh dear....clearly Filmbrain's attempt at a bit of levity has failed.
Ron Howard and Lindsay Lohan?!? Did you think I'd gone mad?

Well, uh . . . YEAH!
Posted by: Flickhead | 2005.06.03 at 07:39 PM
why did you pick howard hawks? anything subliminal there?

Ron-Howard-Hawks?
I'm sure I should know this, but who is Lindsay Lohan?
Posted by: Flickhead | 2005.06.06 at 02:46 PM
flickhead it's old people like you who give old people like me a bad name. LINDSAY LOHAN is that hot (to some not me) redhead began as a child actress who is now a skanky blonde 20 something actress who's going to be in the new herbie the love bug movie and was jamie curtis's daughter in freaky friday and the twins in the remake of the parent trap. (she's no hayley mills.)

The Ron Howard thing was simply a tale of two Howards. But then again, I'm sure RH fancies himself as an all-American director much in the way HH did. The big difference of course is that I would rather stick needles in my eyes that watch a RH film.
As for Ms. Lohan, I haven't seen a single entry in her vast oeuvre, and my knowledge of her is limited to what I've read on Defamer. (She is going to be in the next Robert Altman film, or so I hear.)

re: HH/rh that's what i thought you thought because that's what i think he thinks. rh's self-absorbed earnestness is matched only by tom hanks's who btw is 15 years too old to be the guy in the davinci code which is the biggest piece of crap to ever hit a best seller list. i hate hollywood and i hate more so because i loved it so. they broke my heart. and i hate russell crowe too that trog. on the same screen that once held leslie howard. ptoo ptoo.
i saw freaky friday, it was kind of great to see jamie curtis act 17 and i like mark harmon; i saw also the parent trap redux as i was very fond of hayley mills movies as a sprout, i still can't turn pollyanna off when it's on. (her sister is hot too.) speaking of pt, who was hotter than maureen o'hara in that? NOBODY.
